convergence line

1. (Sometimes called asymptote of convergence.) Any horizontal line along which horizontal convergence of the airflow is occurring.

If mass convergence is taking place in a plane near the surface of the earth, the incoming air must be rising at the convergence line. Hence the lines are often associated with convective clouds.
