nephometer

(Also called nephelometer.) 1. A general term for instruments designed to measure the amount of cloudiness.

An early type consists of a convex hemispherical mirror mapped into six parts. The amount of cloud coverage on the mirror is noted by the observer.
2. Same as nephelometer.
