  1. An analog voltage produced by a sensor and conveying information, often with some information parameter varying periodically with time.
  2. In imaging systems, a voltage representing image intensity as a function of position in the image.
  3. In radar or lidar, the signal produced by the detection system, usually conveying the signal intensity as a function of range.
